The same -- 87 deg -- Sam & Alf went nearly to the depot with me in morning -- Met lots of the Austinites -- They go home tomorrow -- Chamberlain & others will take the band out to the Insane Asylum today, to show them the concern, and give the patients some music -- On the train were the four famous athletes Duncan C Ross, Jim Cannon, Dempsey and Cleary -- Mike Smith, formerly of the Vesey House, Gold Hill was with them as agent and manager -- I was made acquainted with them all -- They are on the way over from California, having showed last at Nevada City, and will show at Pipers Opera House tonight I worked as usual today, but with very lame shoulder -- Col Shaw was at Carson when fire occurred, so he staid and

got all the particulars and wrote them up tonight, after he cdame up on evening train -- for morning paper, with a big diagram which he drew -- I was at Opera House and reported the performance of the athletes -- Had chair behind on of the rings & good view of the whole -- wrestling and sparring -- stripped nearly naked --
