Mr. Harry Drackert Donner Trail Guest Ranch Verdi, Nevada

Dear Harry:

Many thanks for your good undated letter of recent date, with the information about WASHOE PINES and other guest ranches. I have just sent this information in to Crown Publ. in New York.

Incidentally, I can't remember if I told you or not, but Marlboro Cigarettes have bought the TV rights to my Ranch Book, which they believe they will bring out in a show in 1970 or 1971. They are paying the publishers $600,000 for the rights to it.

I have just moved into a very large and fancy apartment here on the ocean in Miama Beach.

It is a simply terrific spot, with huge furnished rooms. My living room is 30 x 20 ft and my king-size bed is large enough for five people to sleep across it. I have a huge bathroom, with a separate shower and a telephone next to the johnny! There is a separate bath and powder room adjoining the living room, and a large and very modern kitchen with a great number of gadgets, including an electric ice-making machine.

I was obliged to leave my host Ed Parker's house as I was holding up a large guest room in his home at a time when he especially needs rooms for his various business executives, etc. And although the building in which I am now will not be completed for another thirty days, and plasterers, carpenters, painters, plumbers, electricians, telephone men, etc. are still working here from 8 AM to 5 PM, I am nonetheless actually more comfortable here.

Mr. Harry Drackert, Verdi -- 2 -- Jan. 31, 1967

The place is completely air-conditioned and has circulating heat for days such as we have been having recently.

It is directly on the ocean, has 100 ft of beach, as well as a heated swimming pool, and there are two life-guards.

There are two telephone numbers with automatic answering service and all sorts of other conveniences.

We had delightful weather for the holidays, then two solid weeks of rain, and the past few days it has been unbearably cold for Miami, but is certainly warmer than the weather that you have been having in Reno.

Again thanks, and all the best,

Yours sincerely,

Cornelius Vanderbilt, Jr.
