The Summer School had its incep-
tion from various sources. Educators
and teachers of the state have for
several years recognized the need of a
Summer School. This felt need came to
a head in the several institutes held
in the state the past year. In some
cases, a vote was taken. Altogether
the demand seemed to indicate that the
teachers would support, a Summer School
at the University of Nevada. The matter
was finally decided when the Regents of
the University, authorized the establish--
ment of a Summer School to be
given under the direction of the College
of Education.

Future summer sessions will depend
upon the success of the one just closing
and the professional enterprise of
the teaching body of the state. The
management will make every effort
to meet any legitimate demands.

The course of study was organized to
meet the needs of the teachers of Nevada
and at the same time to embodie the most
substantial modern progressive educ--
ation. The aim of this first session
has been to introduce the teachers to
the educational spirit of the times, to
engender professional respect and enthusiasm.
