[January 14, 1953]

Up at 10 [plus] after a good night.

Brunch tip .50 maid .50 Left Syracuse manager at station at 2 20. Had dinner on train had drawing room to Buffalo [and] seats in parlor car from there to Toronto arriving at 8 55 p.m. Mr Johnson met us and said the Emily was speaking right then for the womens club.

I stayed in. Jofe and Franz visited until 11. I then prepared for bed but already the occupants of the next room had started a gay party so I got my share of noise and smoke.

[January 15, 1953]

Up at 9 bathed [and] dressed had light breakfast. My next room neighbors kept me awake until about 4 with the noise of their party.

At 11 Jofe [and] I went to Eaton Auditorium for rehearsal and at 1 15 we had lunch at Eatons with the former Miss Eaton now Mrs McKettrick [and] her husband. They are very charming.

Returned to hotel about 3 30 and Emily came at 4 with a school mate and we visited til 5 then had dinner. tip .50 Concert partly good. We returned to the hotel [and] the Johnsons joined me in a snack. Jofe [and] Franz were in too.

I finally retired at 1 20.

[January 16, 1953]

Up at 10 bath [and] dressed slowly.

Jofe came about 11 30 and shortly afterwards Mr Johnson with the check for last nights performance. I ordered lunch put in calls to Magill and Freibe. Got lunch about 12 45 tip .50 started work on figures for J Shlione no tax paid held out on this concert.

Had dinner at 7 and left hotel at 8. Maids 1.50 baggage 1.00.

[January 17, 1953]

Awake early up at 7 10 out at Grand Central about 8 15. Pullman porter 2.00 red cap .75 cab to apartment via Jofe [and] Franz 2.50 then to Dr Bucky 1.85 to 11 1.00 [then to station] 1.70 bread .56 phone call 56 [plus] 10 red cap .75 magazine [and] papers 1.20

[January 18, 1953]

Up at 9 breakfast at 10 [plus].

Did very little of anything but seemed to be on the go. Located music for Bell Telephone Hour performance. Received call from Oklahoma. Evelyn Pittman re appearance there. Talked to Annie [and] Rosie.

Retired about 11 50.

George Hyde left at 4 30.

Joey [and] Jimmy were over in the afternoon.
