May 28. Whitsunday.
Nine years ago you have been out to the Wilman’s
seaside house, I forgot the name of the place, but
it was somewhere near Whitby in England. [strikethrough] You remember, for paeonies in the Hungarian language sounds whitsunroses. [/strikethrough]
Now this year, quite exceptionally, paeonies
came out just for Whitsuntime. The Hungarian is Whitsuntime for [?].

The morning I walked out to [strikethrough] Tisza István [/strikethrough] the garden-city,
to see Eszter, she sent word several times, she
wants to see me, but until now I could not
spare the time for going out. As it would happen just today she
was not at home, so I hope she is well, [strikethrough] returned, leaving [/strikethrough]
I left a note. At Balazs I ate a passable lunch,
on the streetcar back I met Mr. and Mrs. Irmey,
the sister and brother in law of Marguerite. They
were just back from Hidesvár where they spent
about a week.

Some observations on my walk: I have seen
in the woods a bush, ornamented on every twig
with pink and white streetcar tickets. The
