Mr WM Spry Governor of Utah Salt Lake City Utah.

It is better for society to put a man in prison for life than to givehim capital punishment, either if he is guilty or innocent.

There is constructive thinking and destructive thinking in society and the more destructive thought and action that is put out tends to inflame society and make life more of a hell.

There is a natural law that says what we sow we will reap/

Society will finally improve, to what more than it is now, in a few short years if we will think constructive.

Really if I injure another person without it is in self defense it acts as a boomerang and as a natural law of life comes back and strikes me.

Will you be one of the men to help make this world a better place to live in?

The men that convicted the so called Haymarket voters in Chicago never had anymore peace of mind.

We don't have to belong to a church to do good.

There is two much hell on earth now lets not make any more.

With Respect I am Wm J Buchanan Indianapolis Ind.

Sep 11 1915

Hon. William Spry, Governor of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah.

Dear Sir:-

We the members of Local Horace write you in protest against the conviction of Joseph Hillstrom for the crime of which he was accused.

We believe in his innocence. We do not believe he had a fair trial.

We have learned that the jurors were not selected in the usual way; that the defendent was practically without council when on trial for his life.

No motive was shown for the crime for which he was convicted. The conviction was found upon the flimsiest kind of circumstantial evidence.

Believing these to be the facts, we the undersigned most earnestly request that the death sentence in the case of our brother Joseph Hillstrom be set aside and clemency extended.

The findings of the Federal commission have only confirmed what the workers have always affirmed, that there are two kinds of "justice" in our courts; one for the workers, and one for the wealthy class.

We trust Governor Spry, that you will have the courage of the noble Governor of Georgia whom all true men and women honor today; who rose above perjured justice to save what he believed was an innocent man from murder.

Committee on Resolutions.

Lillian K. Bullard C.R. [Ballier?] V:J: Carter.
