Dear Sir:

I beg to thank you for your cordial letter of Nov.
20th, containing an expression of your approval of my attitude
on the Hillstrom case, and of my announcement that I
intend to clear the state of the lawless element. It is a
pleasure to state that the people of Utah are standing solidly
behind the offocials whose duty it is to enforce the
law, and, regarless of threats and intimidating letters,
the laws of this state will be enforced.

It is a source of satisfaction, indeed, to know that
men like you, who are not directly interested in this case,
have observed its progress and look with disfvor on the
tactics which have been pursued to advance the propaganda of
organizations which are gnawing at the vitals of our government.
So far as Hillstrom's membership in any organization
was concerned, it had nothing whatever to do with his trial
and conviction of a most heinous crime. All this was aside
from the case at bar and those only who sought to advance a
propaganda calculated to ultimately overthrow our form of government,
are responsible for the hub-bub regarding the [?]
