Hillstrom Congratulatory

January 8, 1916

Dr. William F.Beer,
Boston Building,
Salt Lake City, Utah.

My dear Doctor:-

I trust you will pardon my delay in acknowledging
the receipt of your cordial letter of November 20th,
conveying an expression of your approval
of my action in the Hillstrom case. So many matters
have engaged my attention that it has been impossible
before now to take care of the accumulation of mail.

I desire you to know that I appreciate
not only this letter of congratulation but am grateful
for the firm and patriotic stand which you maintained
during the time when so many threats were being
received in connection with this case.
I believe that the outspoken contempt for those who were seeking to
overthrow the institutions of government had a strong
tendency to curb those of anarchistic tendencies in
their acts and utterances.

I have shown your letter to the members of
the Pardon Board and they join me in this expression of
thanks. With the compliments of the season, I beg to remain

Cordially yours,

Governor
