Gov William Spry

Fellow Citizen

As a citizen of the state of Utah I think that it is my duty to ask you as Govenor of the state of Utah, To look into the case of one named Joseph Hill, who is at present under the sentence of death , in the state of Utah , After going over the eveidence that has been presented by the prosecutioin i and thousands of other citizens of this state consider that the conviction of Joseph Hill is nothing more or less than a BLASPHEMY upon modern JUSTIC, Therefore I as a citizen of the stae ask you to use all the power that you have at your comand to stop this misscarrige of justic, If this is not done it would appear as a blot upon the clear record of the people of utah who in the past as a body of citizen belived in JUSTIC being done toward all mankind

Respectfully yours

20 W. Missouri Av., Kansas City, Mo., July 27th, 1915.

Hon. William Spry, Governor of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah.

Honored Sir:

As a citizen of the state of Missouri, I have paid close attention to the trial of Joseph Hillstrom on the charge of murder at Salt Lake City, where this man was sentenced to be shot. It is my conviction, resultant from an impartial survey of the trial, that it was not fair, and that he was not proven guilty of the crime for which he is to be executed.

I feel that the life of a man is worth too much to be lost on account of carelessness or prejudice, and I wish to call upon you, as a representative of the people, to see that Joseph Hillstrom is given an opportunity to prove his innocence.

I am, respectfully, Your humble servant, F. Moran.
