We the under singed do hereby hopefully beg Your Honnor to intersced for clemency of one Joe Hillstrom a prisnor of the State of Utha and sentensted to die for a crime for witch He stands inocent and for witch the State has failed to prove any direct evedence or even a motive for said crime, and as the writer of this letter I have known Joe Hilstrom for three Years and Worked with Him at different times and even lived in the same house with Him in San Pedro Cal. and I always found Him to be a good Worker when employed in the Dock and Lumber Yards of said City, and when not ocupied there He always found a great demand for His musical tallents as an violinest or pianest was always of sober habits and a good caractor, and even in one case He partisepated With me in giving chase to a holdup in San Pedro Cal. at a time when police methods were very lax in said City, and in regards to His present difficulty I do remember that He had some truble of ver a Woemen how was from Salt Lake City and how shortly afterwards left for Salt Lake City, and in a short time Joe Hillstrom left San Pedro Cal

We, the inmates of the Workmen's Circle Sanatorium, every one of us permeated with that dreadful disease -- the White Plage -- in full cognizance of the fact that sooner or later we will have to stand in judgment before ourv Maker, deem it our sacred duty to humbly ask you to exercise your Executive clemency in the case of Joseph Hillstrom (also known as Joe Hill) who was convicted by the District Court of Salt Lake County x on January 10, 1914 and condemnedto be shot on October 1st, 1915 which decision was affirmed by the Supreme Court of the State of Utah.

While we fully believe in the integrity of the courts, we would like to draw your attention to the fact that the evidence against Joseph Hillstrom was purely circumstantial, and that he was not defended by counself of his own choosing.

We, who are expecting to give up God's greatest gift -- Life -- know how precious its is and therefore ask you not to rob one of God's own creature[s] made in His image, of the best gift God has given him, especially so when the evidence against him was not very direct. Yours very humbly,
