Seattle, Wash. Sept. 6th, 1915. Hon. Wm Spry, Governer of the State of Utah. Sir:- Scandinavians in the city of Seattle, State of Washington, assembled in two meetings, the fifth day of September, 1915, to the number of more than a thousand, adopted the following resolution: We hereby raise our voices in protest against the execution of our countryman Jos. Hillstrom. In the prosecution the State failed to produce any evidence whereupon the execution can be justified. The evidence brought forth were only circumstantial and would have been set aside in any other court of the UNION. We therefore believe that JOS. Hillstrom did not get a fair and impartial trial. We are furthermore convinced that Jos. Hillstrom is not guilty of the crime for which he is convicted to be shot, and we ask that you, the Hon. Wm Spry, Governor of the Stae of Utah, will use your executive power for the release of Jos. Hillstrom, whome we think ought to be set free without delay. Signed by a committee, eleected for that purpose, whose addres is, 515 E. Thomas St., Seattle, Wash.Orean Suxollerg. Gen. Straund Heurring Oberg

Lakewood Wash Sep 7th 1915

To the Governor of the State of Utah.

Honorable Sir.

Will take the liberty of writing our protest to you concerning the execution of Joe Hill, another working class champion wich according to all we have been able to find out through reading or otherwise has comitted no other crime than being loyal to his class and tryed to organize them so that they might receive a few more crumbs of bread for their toil. If this man has not had a fair trial which it seems he has not this shooting that is to take place Oct. 1th. can't be anything less than murder downright.

We can't afford to have our champions for our cause the workers cause languishing in prison.

Dangling on the gallows, or being shot just being true to their class run through on all kinds of trumped up charges. We theirfore appeal to you to use your good offices and stay the execution of this man if he has been railroaded through on a fake trial which we blieve he has. Respectfully.
