20th from accident at different times had the command of the Company I was now in, & have been requested by Co.l McLean to take the command of a Batt.n Company  that I did not approve of, as any Cap.t joining it, I should lose the command  besides in a flank Co. there is more chance of gaining of credit than in a Batt.n Co.  as they are often detached & employed on more important services  I have had the good fortune to be under the command of one of the best Officers in the service, my late much lamented Capt. Smyth  […] Maj.r Ward has succeeded to the command of the Grenadier C.o he is a very fine [little] fellow, & the only Cap.t with the Reg.t at present 
