1811 June
21st We left the Camp of Torre di Moro and passing by Elvas, and Borba, arrived at Estremoz on the 23rd after being so much harassed with marching & laying out in the fields
23rd we had anticipated with pleasure the hopes of being quiet for a few months as the French had retired & we supposed must have wanted recruiting as bad as ourselves  and likewise considering ourselves as the Alentejo Army being under the immediate orders of Gen.l. Hill  large depots forming at Estremoz & other circumstances inducing us to believe it to be the case we were making every preparation to settle ourselves comfortably when to our surprise we received an order to march to Castel Branco by a given route 
31st We left Estremoz & arrived at Fronteira where we were hutted outside the town  a small pleasant town with one long street through it situated rather high surrounded by old walls which appear to have been Moorish  a pleasant river about ½ mile below the town  3 leagues distant
