until you reach Meimoa, it is the most barren country you could imagine, & so like a desert that you could not suppose yourself in a civilized country
29th proceeded to Urgeira 2 leagues, within ½ league of Sabugal. it is a small place with a curious Castle  I went to see where the battle was fought, & in my way home took a swim in the Coa 
30th proceeded to Villa Toro a small village 2 leagues distant built on rocks, where as on the preceding nights, we lay just outside the town 
31st we received an order to march into cantonments  accordingly our Reg.t marched into Villa Toro where we were led to expect we would likely remain for some time  when at 3 o’clock P.M. we were ordered to march to [Marmohero] above a league distant 

2nd marched to Castillegos, 4 long leagues, a very small
