A Special meeting of the Common Council was held on this date to consider the
purchase of a 750 gallon triple combination motor apparatus, and to appropriate
$900, or as much thereof as necessary.

There were present Councilmen Elliott, Forrest, Gleason, Huyett, Long, Smith
and Vis.

A resolution adopted at a special meeting of the Borad of Aldermen on November
22, 1919, entitled A Resolution to provide for the purchase of a 750 gallon triple
combination motor, and to appropriate $900. to supplement the appropriation
heretofore made for said purpose of $10,500, was presented and, after discussion, was
unanimously concurred in. (See Ordinance Book #1 for copy.)

The President appointed Smith and Via on Committee on the purchase of motor. On motion the meeting then adjourned.

COUNCIL CHAMBER, December 11, 1919.
The regular monthly meeting of the Common Council was held on this date with
the following members present: Messrs. Elliott, Forrest, Huyett, Long, Smith,
Twyman and Via.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

A committee representing the First Methodist Church appeared before the body
and requested that the grades on Second Street, South, be so lowered as to conform
to plans being prepared for the erection of a new church building on the site of
the present one. The matter was taken under consideration and reffered to the
City Manager with power to act.

The ordinance adopted by the Board of Aldermen at the meeting held November
17th proposing to regulate charges for hauling by drays was not concurred in, but
was referred to the city attorney for his opinion as to its constitutionality.

The following resolution and ordinances adopted at the November meeting of the Board of Aldermen were concurred in;
A resolution appointing a committee on charter revision.
An ordinance amending and reenacting Sec. 176 of the city code.
An ordinance repealing an ordinance prohibiting the sale of fire works within
the city of Charlottesville adopted October 28, 1918.

This latter ordinance failed of concurrance at the November meeting, but on motion
of Mr. Smith the vote at said meeting was reconsidered and the ordinance again
placed upon its passage and concurred in by the vollowing vote; Ayes, Huyett, Long,
Smith, and Tayman (4); Noes, Elliott, Forrest and Via (3).

The question of purchasing a truck for the Fire Department and sale of the
serial lader, brought to the attention of the Council by the City Manager, was
referred to the Public Safety Committee.
