COUNCIL CHAMBER AUGUST 20, 1923.
A regular meeting of the Council was held on this date with the
following members present: Messers Brown, Joachim and Morris.

A communication from L. W. Scoville requesting permission to construct a
sidewalk in front of his property on corner of Monticello Road and Graves Street, [was passed]
Permission was granted provided same is constructed by City specifications.

A petition from residents and property owners on University Place requesting
that the streets on University Place be resurfaced was referred to the City
Manager to investigate the condition, sizes etc. of the underground pipes, and report
back at next meeting.

A petition from members of the Fifeville Neighborhood Club, requested that
Cherry Avenue, King Street and Grove Avenue be put in a passable condition before winter,
was referred to the City Manager with instructions to give the requested relief as soon as
possible.

Back charges of $25.00 and $12.50 against Cemetery sections owned by Mrs.
Mary S. Venable and Ernest Brown respective were ordered cancelled, upon these parties
making necessart deposit for perpetual care.

Upon recommendation of the City Manager $800.00 was appropriated for construction
of a storm sewer on Second Street East from High Street North.

The following amounts were ordered set aside for purpose stated below:

Resurfacing 2nd St. West Market to High $2500.00
Resurfacing 5th St. East Water St. to Jefferson St. 2500.00
Resurfacing 2nd Street East Water Street to Hight St. 4500.00
Paving 7th, Dice 7 1/2 Nalls and 9th St. South
from Halls to King Street 18000.00
Paving Locust Grove Avenue 25000.00

The following appropriations were considered and laid over to the next meeting
for final action:

Fas line extension on Locust Grove Avenue
Concrete bridge on Rugby Road Spanning
C. & O. Railway Tracks
Gas lind renewal on Park Street

Bills for killing unknown and unclaimed dogw were presented by W. J. McCauley
and J. C. Marsh, and were approved for payment.
