Sir,

It need not be repeated that Mr. Charles & Landon Carter are executors of Colonel Pages last will and testament. As such they qualifyed [qualified] themselves in October general court, & all affairs relating to that estate have from that time been transacted by them with the person who before had the managements of it, and it would be a great pleasure to us, who from the affection we bear to the memory of our deceased friend and the trust reposed have the interest of his family entirely at heart, if we could say that the crops have been equal to the pains we have taken. But some misfortune or other has attended us, and this estate like many others; fallen short of what it made even last year. We would however hope it will meet with the same success under your conduct, and that you will again be enabled to tell us that altho' [although] the consignment is less, you shall raise a good deal of money from it. Without this we should be under great uneasiness for the Bills of Exchange we have been obliged to draw upon (upon) you. one to Colo. [colonel] Willis for five hundred pounds the second Payment of the purchase. One to Colo. [colonel] Philip Lightfoot for a hundred pounds by a Note from Colo. [Colonel] Bassett for part of his Wifes fortune, and one other Bill of Exchange is John Grymes Esq; for payment of Luicrents & other Contingent changes of the Estate. Mr. Cary writes very pressingly for two hundred and fourteen pounds due from Colo. [colonel] Page to Mr Diggs and assigned over to him. This was explain'd [explained] to you last year, and we must draw on you or give him an order for it after deducting about thirty pounds which he owes to Colo.[Colonel] Page's Estate for some sales of Tobo. [tobacco]: but we will delay it till some of the Last London ships. We
