I have latly sold a cargo of slaves consigned to me by Messieurs Cunliffe & Powell of Liverpoole, and I have remitted them several Bills of Exchange, according to the list here inclos'd I have very good Reason to think that all of them will be paid, that particularly on Mr. Alderman Perry to Capt. Hill wants not a Certain Foundation. However, as Accidents may happen and it may be an Inconvenience to the Merchants in the way of their traid to lye out of their money, I must rely on your Friendship to take up and pay for my Honor any of them that may happen to be proved I own I have have no Right trouble you in this manner, upon the foot of our present Accounts, yet as you have heretofere answered may of my Drafts, where perhaps the Occasion has been some what Extravagant I flatter myself so far, as to think that you will not refuse this favor I now ask of you since it may tend very much to my Advantage
