Because unless the stript leaf will bring at least 25 prct more that the leaf Tobacco it will not doto make it for the Planter looses so much in taking out the stem.

If at any time my Tobacco does not meet your Approbation at market I could wish you would Be very particular in proper directions with Respect to it's management that I may arrive at Perfection in the cultivation of it for really the Seasons are of late years become so very precarious and my lands now of days turn out so little that unless their trifling produce yeilds me more than they have done latterly, I fear it will not Be in my power to make that reputable Figure in Life (much longer) which I most Sincerely wish to make for the remainder of my Days.

On the first of this month, I inform'd you by Capt. Neeks from James River that I may possibly have occasion to call upon our House for the sum of £ 4000 Sterling to make good a Purchase of a valuable Estate upon York River which I am bound to pay for on or before the 30th day of April 1768. I Shall expect to pay Interest for this money therefore Be pleas'd to acquaint me as soon as possible whether you will and can conveniently lend me so much cash for the purpose above mention'd if your Engagements are such that you cannot comply with my request. I shall not take a Denial amiss if otherwise I dare say you will cheerfully advance the money for Gentlemen
