[51]I must again repeat, that ill treatment from
others, with whom I was formerly connected, had
induced me to engage at present with Gentlemen
who I flatter myself, will observe more genteel Behaviour and
[adhere] to the strictest Justice in the Disposal
of my Effects, I have therefore sent to y.r address
without the recommendation or Solicitation of any body
28 or 30 Lhds of Tob.o weighing upwards of [illegible numerals] of my old ac
quaintance, Capt Thomson in the John & Presly
the greater Part of which is stem'd & the whole
sweetscented, such I dare say as will merit your
Approbation --- As you have an annual Ship
to Rappahanock, I shall always desire my Goods
of every kind from you, in the choice of which, I
flatter myself you will be particularly careful
and procure them on the best Terms, for really,
of late, I have been charged a most exorbitant
Price for almost every article, and whether it
has been owing to a long Credit from Trades=
=men or whatever else, I will not pretend to say.

There is nothing in Life more troublesome or disagreeable to
me, than a frequent Change of Correspondents
which, I hope is now at an End, for be assured Gent.
so long as I meet with good Usage, I shall not
be taken with new faces -- one thing necessary to
avoid Disputes between the Mercht and Planter, is
an Acct Currt, annually, which you'll please to
observe punctually -- If at any time, I should
have Occasion to draw Bills of Exchange I hope
they will be honour'd, altho' my Tob.o is not
sold and there should not be any Money
in hand, my Property -- I have not been used
to protests, and I confess, such returns, will greatly
displease me, therefore shall be troublesome
to you in that particular, as seldom as possible.

Inclosed is an Invoice which you will
comply with by Thomson's return ---
I shall be glad to hear from you often & am
Gent. Yr hble servt
