If I am ever [Proprietor?] of any Tob. upon James River, It is probable you'll have part but at present, I am not Master of any Lands there_ I shall be obliged to you for the goods mention'd as her Invoice, by the Return of the Fly, which, I suppose may be expected, early in the next Spring_ Many of yr Friends complain much of the Fly, therefore, if she is a bad ship, I wish you could dispose of her to advantage.

As Col. Carters sons are your Neighbours & nearly related some, I must beg the [Favour?] of you, so relate candidly [shim?] Behaviours & your opinion of the school they are in I should be also glad to know which of them, has the best Capacity. I sincerely wish you & yrs the greatest Happiness & am sir

Gentlemen, September 15th 1762

Captain Wilkenson, in James Rover, has on board forty hhds of my Tob. weighing 47766 nett poinds for which I shall inclose you Bills of Loading as soon as they come to hand but with respect to their quality shall say nothing, as I was as so much deceiv'd in my Opinion of the last Consignment for which I have not yet receiv'd [crossed out] sales however I expect, they will come in time together with an Acct Currt, as usual_ When this Tob. gets to Market, I suppose the [Ballee?] will not be considerable one way or the other, therfore as I know yr aversion to Bills of Exchange I have only inclosed an Invoice for Part of my Family goods, which you'll send by the return of yr York River ships_ I have wrote by several opportunitiees for Insurance on Wilkinson, warranted to sail with Convoy & then gave my reasons for prefering his ships to (Boyes?), [crossed out] as to yr Powtomack ships, it will never be in my Power to adjust her at all. I have guns in my Invoice to be made by Newton who I am inform'd lives in the Country, to [illegible] which, I must desire the favour of you so be out be at (somlittle?) trouble___ I must also request of you to take particular care
