larger Sums, than ever I requested of you, without
any Interest -- therefore if you insist upon it,
I hope you will not think me ungenteel in giving
you an Order for the Ballance in y.r Favour
and committing my Effects to the hands of others.
You'll oblige me in answering this Letter by the
first Opportunity, that I may know how to
conduct myself - I should have been pleas'd with
an acct of Sales for my seventeen Lhds by the
Arnold, under Cover of y.rs of October Date, as
at, or before that Time, the Market for Tob.o had
got to it's highest Pitch - I flatter myself, you
will not let me be a Sufferer by not dispos=
=ing of them then -- I am Gentlemen
To. Mess.rs Hanbury &C Yrs&C. C. Carter
By the Mary Capt Clark for London & Capt Pollard[?] for Liverpoole
-------------------
Sir March the 25.th 1760.

Inclosed is Bill Loading for ten
Lhds of Tob.o, which, I doubt not, but that you'll
dispose of to the best Advantage. If I am
=truly informed, y.r Correspondents wait an un=
=reasonable Length of time for their Sales --
I frankly confess to you, that it will be incon=
=venient for me to be long without the Produce
of this Consignment, therefore hope you'll em=
=brace the first Offer agreeable with the Quantity of
the Tob.o, or if you are determined to take y.r
own time for the Disposal of it, pay to Mess.rs
Capel & Osgood Hanbury, (to whom, I am indebt=
=ed) whatever you think it is worth, which,
will equally oblige me, I have neither menti=
=on'd to, or given those Gentlemen a Draught on
you for a Farthing, because, I would not choose
to meet with a Disappointment, or put you to
any Inconveniency - so that you'll do, as you
think proper without any Inconveniency to
either -- I am Sir with great Respect -
Yrs&C Char.s Carter
To. Mr Edward Athawes.
