Wake Forest College, June 25. 1872.
Board of Trustees met at 10 1/2 o'clock A. M,
President Brooks in the chair. The following members
were present: W. T. Brooks, J. S. Purefoy, J. H. Mills,
John Mitchell, J. G. Williams, F. M. Jordan. T. H. Pritchard,
R. R. Overby, W. T. Walters, A. R. Vann, W. H. Avera, M.
Lankford, C. M. Cooke.
On motion, bond of Pinckney Oliver ordered to be returned.
President of the College submits his report, and in
accordance with its recommendations, the degree of B. Ph. is
conferred upon J. H. Garvey of Ashe Co. N. C, C. H. Martin
of Franklin Co. N. C. and J. S. Mitchell of Hertford
Co. N. C. and the degree of D. D. upon Rev. N. W. Wilson
of Richmond, Va.
Committee consisting of T. H. Pritchard, C. M. Cooke,
J. S. Purefoy appointed to confer with the Faculty in
that part of the President's report relating to improvement
of grounds and building.
Remainder of the report adopted.
Rev. J. Mitchell, agent of the College, submits his
report, showing the collection of $1072.65 in Cash and
$12890.15 in subscriptions since Jan 1st. 1872. Report is
referred to the following Committee: J. H. Mills, J. G. Williams,
W. T. Walters.
On motion Wilson Fleetwood is released from payment
of his bond of $100.
Rev. J. S. Purefoy, Treasurer, offered his report
which was adopted. Receipts, $18526.68; Disbursements, $18253.15; Balance, $273.53
Rev. W. T. Walters offered the following resolution:
Resolved, That the treasurer be instructed to settle the amounts
due the Faculty out of any funds that may be now on
hand or shall first come into his hands hereafter from
any source whatever.
Moved, by W. H. Avera, that, in case the Com. on the
Removal of the depot from Forestville to the College fail in
their effort, the same committee be instructed to inform
the R. R. authorities that the Board of Trustees pledge
