Lafontaine has been laid out on the south side of the river at the foot of these rapids. The river in approaching and upon leaving these rapids has a direction nearly north east but upon the rapid it is deflected to a due east course. The Konkapot creek enters the river from the south on these rapids.

Kakalin (Little) a rapid on the Neenah, a short distance above Depere, extending one mile, and having a fall of two and a half feet. The water runs over horizontal beds of limestone rock. The dam erected at Depere [flows these rapids] raises the water so as to cover these rapids.
