Prairieville-In 1840, agreeably to the census, there were in this town 81 horses, 597 meat cattle, 43 sheep, 1036 swine; the crops in 1839 were 9338 bushels of wheat, 339 of barley, 6242 of oats, 62 of rye, 511 of buckwheat, 4750 of Indian corn and 6504 of potatoes; 547 tons of hay were cut, 500 pounds maple sugar made & the produce of dairies was estimated at $248. There were 2 stores with a capital of $2400. Two grist mills and two saw mills. A manufacturing Co. incorporated in
