Dear Sir,

yours of Septr 16 was duly received and
your communication - which is interesting - will
appear next week.

We thank you for the brick +
the clay and the specimens of minerals + fossils.
The brick is truly beautiful but without any doubt
its delicate shale whose is due to iron in very
small quantity.

It has been examined in our
labratory and no coloring matter but iron was
discovered - there is nothing to indicate chrome on
any coloring matter except iron.

There can be no unfavorable doubt that the clay
from which it was made will house a good
material for pottery. With the simple glaze of
common [???] thrown into the furnace I have
no doubt it would produce a handsome [???].

In the midst of many cases your request had
been overlooked and now cold weather is upon
is - but I will endeavor to have this day tied
with the return of cold weather and you
will do well to supply some of your [???]
potteries with a quality for trial.

I fear that your request for 50 extra copies of
your paper has not been attended to - your urgent
