Bought some stamps. Cut to the Cathedral, eyed the citadel
and rushed back to ship. I was ½ an hour behind time,
but she had not sailed, so I was all right and tight. Tho'
tired, with being wet through all day. I then went on board
the Victoria, and off we sailed. I washed and put on dry
clothes, and had a sumptuous tea, Pickled Salmon, eggs,
cucumber, rump-steaks and coffee, bread and toast.
I stopped up till 12 o'clock, the scenery is most beautiful
and the farms with their verandahs look very picturesque
and pretty. At twelve we passed the Three Rivers juncture.
About 2 o'clock I turned into bed. I got up at 6 o'clock
this morning viz. Wednesday July 14th and wished with
Uncle and Aunt, Cecilia many happy returns of the day.
Give her my kindest and best love, & tell her I have
thought of her a great deal to-day, and wished she was
with me, to enjoy the beautiful scenery as much as I do. I
watched the new moon last night; I went out on the
deck with several ladies, and we turned our money
for luck. I thought about my promise, to look at the
moon and remember it was the same moon, my
sisters looked at. This plan will often make us think
of each other. Well, to-day, July 14th I got up at 6
o'clock, and had a splendid view of Montreal, its
