Kefr Nabo 6 30 A.M. Temp 49 Baro L. 27.90 clear, calm
beautiful day.

Left camp 7 25 going N. arrived Brad 8 10 crossing 2 wadis
to get there. We arrived at a small cluster of bldgs. part of Brad but
separated from the main town by 1/4 of a mile and a depression. It
was 250° from Brad & consisted of a group of 1 tower, 1 small church
and a convent, a wire press, a cistern, and two stone seats set
side by side and once covered by a canopy. We left a 8 49 arriving at
Brad 8 58 a large ruin covering about 1 sq. mile of area
and widely scattered - 3 churches, a bath, a tertapylon in an
excellent state of preservation & a few oterh bldgs. many door
jamb & [tintels?] standing and rock cut tombs, and chambers
Place inhabited by some 8 families of Kurds living in tents
like Bedouins. They only live here in spring & summer and
plow & harvest. In the winter they live in villages on the plain
but during the winter a few sheperds remain with flocks &
live with their animals in caves or the old rock cut tombs and
chambers. Brad is the largest ruin in extent in these [metro?]
