VI. Did you not purchase the said notes for five
hundred & two hundred and twenty seven 50/100 dollars,
and the sd note for twenty dollars herein exhibited, and
also the sd note for ninety 29/100 a copy of which is
here exhibited and is not sd exhibit a true copy?

VII. Were not the sd notes exhibited and No VIII
IX & X and the sd two notes for five hundred and two
hundred and twenty seven 50/100 the only claims which
you had on orator at the time the sd five bills of sale
herein mention were given, and if you had any
other claims on orator at the time then state fully
what they were & their amounts and how you obtained
them?

VIII. At the time sd bills of sale were made state
the amount of the debt you claimed to have on orator,
state the evidences of sd debt fully and particularly?
and state particularly at what rate percent you calcu-
lated the interest upon any one or all of the said notes
herein before mentioned?

IX. State if you did not induce orator to give
the bills of sale for the purpose of changing the charac-
ter of your debt as herein stated, and to avoid the pay-
ment of taxes as herein stated? and did you not make
the promises and assurances herein before stated ? and
if said bills of sale were not obtained upon the promises
and assurances afd, & for the purposes afd, then state
fully and particularly how the fact is?

X. Were not the said two notes herein before mentioned
for eight hundred and eighty eight 99/100 dollars and for nine
hundred and fifty six 99/100 dollars given for the purpose
of securing more than legal interest on the sum claime
ed to be due, & not really and bonafide for the hire of
the sd slaves? answer the question fully and particu-
