air exercises on Anson aircraft. On the 20th March, 1945, he
proceeded to No. 11 Operational Unit, Oakley, Buckinghamshire.
On the 17th April, 1945, F/Sgt. Fernyhough lost his
life as the result of a flying accident. He was Wireless Operator
Air Gunner of a Wellington bomber aircraft which collided in mid-air
with another bomber, over Oakley Aerodrome, near Aylesbury, and
crashed, all the members of the crew, including F/Sgt. Fernyhough,
losing their lives. He was buried in the R.A.F. Regional Cemetery,
Oxford.
