No worries -- I'll format it when I review and index everything.
(Happy to send you the docs for formatting tables, but they're kind of hard to deal with regardless.)
I have no idea what the reference could be in the July 1852 entry: "By 1 pr Trace chase which he said he found"
I suspect that the character transcribed as a capital T in Trace is actually an ornate capital L. But the whole sentence doesn't make sense with that. However, would "by one pair Lace chane" (=="lace chain") make any more sense?
After comparing the earlier entry "cash lent you in Lynchg for Traces" I decided that I was wrong about the capital L and am changing it back to T.
Okay, MW online gives this definition of "trace chain":
trace chain noun
1 a: a harness trace of chain b: a short chain by which a leathern trace is linked with a whiffletree
2: a long strong chain which is attached to a line and along which two or more pairs of draft animals are attached usually by whiffletrees
And now I know what a whiffletree is!
