and liberal being called upon to suple-
ment others failures, if indeed they are
such. I regret the necessity of this step on
the Church's account so far as it indicates
a flagging or failing cause. I regret it
also on my own account of course, because
it will restrict me in helping where I
may still be called upon. I never have
anything over at the end of the year - but
it has always been my rule to live within
my salary. This I shall endeavor to do
in the future and for the rest of my days
however small the amount i may have
to live upon. I can live right low if
needs be. And I would rather do this
than to feel myself a burden to anybody,
Especially to those most likely to be burdened,
who I feel sure, do with concientuous
fidelity the best they feel able to at first.
I write this to you that you may have
it, as Clerk of hte Session, as a voucher
of the sincerity of my offer. It is not
for me to name a sum, of course, for
