Dearest Edward
Your long letter was much enjoyed
and I am glad you think [underlined] that a
little [underlined] delay wont be extremely
dangerous for Lesley "Edward"[crossed out].

Its hard to know what [underlined] to do. If I
knew the Drs at March Field were
really careful I could perhaps rest
easily but a friend of Lesleys (classmate
at March Field) rang us up yesterday
a.m. He had gotten leave to come up
& see his father in Fabiola
hospital just for the day & Les asked him to ring us up

[written vertically on left side and top:]
Did you get a pair of socks from Helen. She sent a pair to you two weeks
or more ago –
She hopes
they did
not go
astray –
How many
pairs have
you?
And
how
many
should
you have
please
let me
know?
Mother.
