My very dear old boy Edward:

Mother writes that it looks as if you would leave
about the end of this month for somewhere, and I
have no doubt that you will be glad to go, except for
the leaving of home and Mother. But Edward my
dear boy, you are going because of the menace to
home and Mother, and when you come back, there
will be a royal welcome for you. You have been
a very dear loving son to us, and we shall miss
you, but every day you will be with us in our
thoughts and prayers. We are proud of you and
the rest of our boys, and I am sure that all
of our friends feel the same way. I sent you
by wire $300.00 last Friday, and it was supposed
to be paid you the same evening. I hope you
got it on time. Now Edward, I want to
impress on you one thing, and that is, if you
ever need money, and can get a bank to
cash your draft on me, I want you to do so.

You should always have money (say $100.00)
in your clothes when you are on the other side.
Not necessarily for spending money, but as a
reserve for contingencies. From Mothers letters
I infer that you have not seen those second hand
car buyers, about selling the Dodge. I hope you
have been able to have the car overhauled at
your Motor Dept in Camp, as I shall have to have
it done here otherwise. They are fixing Dayton
