This is the very last piece of notes paper
I have – & I find this side was written on
before – I had copies made for your
Captain & for Lieuts Browning & McLaughlin
of their Kodac [Kodak] views – I ordered more
but by mistake, he [illegible] did not make
more – Aunt E went to the
country for a week or two. –

Jocelyn is still here his pay was reduced
so he resigned as he worked very hard
perhaps it is as well for he looked exhausted
when he came home –

I wonder how long you will be on the
East Coast? How I hope Dick is with
you! Fond love to you both darlings

Your devoted Mother
R. Helen Bates

[written vertically on left side:]
We would like to wire you on your birthday but suppose we dare not.

[written upside down on bottom of page:]
August 5th 1918
Darling
