to go to Cullodens for this week end. Did you hear
the story of the Jew that was stopping at Byron Hot Spgs,
and saw another Jew friend getting off the stage on
a Saturday morning. He greeted him with "What Izzy
are you up for a week end." "No, I got the rheumatism."

Dick sent us some Kodac [Kodak] views of himself in civilian
clothes. He is executive officer of the Cincinnati.

Jos wrote yesterday from the ranch at Nelson. He is
expecting Mr. Linderman up there. I think the Supt is
leaving, and it may turn out better for Jos, though
he liked the Supt. Jos has been classified by the District
Board in Class III. J. the letter standing for expert
agriculturist. The water in Alameda is frightful.

It is filthy and smells very badly. Since yesterday
all sprinkling has been ordered stopped on our
side of the Bay, and I believe we are supposed to be
on an allowance of 15 gals per person per day.

Durney is sick over the thought that his beautiful
lawn will die down and all the flowers. The first
good rain however will bring up the lawn, though
the plants will probably all be dead. I have
not got the car back yet. It is finished, but Moore
& Campbell are keeping it running on the floor, to
wear the new parts into smooth working order. They
think I can get it tomorrow. The Halls took
us out in their car last night to Mills College and
back. It was a beautiful evening – Lots of love
to you Edward dear from us all – Be sure to
let me know if there is anything I can do for
you

always your loving father
