sides of them. The cars were
hit after they had left them
to get into the trench. Raining,
a pitch black night. Hard
time following the road.
Four hundred shells droped
in Sauper on July 14.

Peularnd, Howard (High), & Higans
got back at 9:30 from convoi.
They visited the front line trenches.
Were withing fifteen ft. of the
Germans. A captain and major
escorted them through, and
had the men throw some
hand grenades for their
amusement. The whole camp
envy them.

July 19, 1917 (Thursday)

Left on convoi at 3 P.M.
Carried trench supplies
to Chateau Souper. Very
heavy bombardment.
