One shell passed over our
heads and burst at the side
of the road near the bridge
above Ouilly. A few
shells & shrapnel came
in while were were at
Souper. Came home over
a new road as the Ouilly
bridge was blown out.
Had a bad time going over
a swamp in a dark woods.
No 6 acted up pretty badly.
Got home at 3:30 A.M.
Friday, July 20, 1917.
Stayed in camp. On
the dish washing squad.
Herb Kendall went to
the aviation field and
went up. Herb Brown
flew over camp.
Nine men were notified
that they would leave
on their permission at
eleven tomorrow morning
