Brown signed it & sent it
back. It came back to Herb
and wanted a yes or no answer
weather I had been in camp
that day or not. Herb. called
Dick, Herb. Kendall & Krusi
into his remark and tried to
find out if I had gone to
Paris & they would not give
him a yes or no answer.
Herb finally sent the note
back saying that after
investigating he found that
I had not been in the camp.
He was afraid to do otherwise
for fear that if he said
I was here they would send
for me. The boys were
afraid that I had been
caught & that the military
authorities had notified
our French officers.
