having a hunch & getting
the Paris authorities to
investigate at the aviation
headquarters. They can find
out there as I signed papers
on the 16th. The whole
camp has been pretty well
excited all day & they are
all pulling for me. Two
others were going to do it,
but I found out in Paris
that it would do them no
good as the American
officers had agreed with
the field service to give
no physical examinations
except to those in on regular
permission, and they had
to have a statement to that
effect from the Field Service.
