Deareast Marie,

I received your most welcome
letter on Xmas Eve and certainly was
happy to hear from. It was the first
letter I received in two months and it
cheered me up a whole lot when I got it.

I am glad to hear that you had such
a good time on your birth day and wish
I could have been there. I would like to
have sent you some thing but here is no
way to get it through. I was at the front
just about that time and was wonder-
ing what kind of time you had.

I am sorry to hear that you were
sick but hope you are well again. I
think your uncle must have forgotten his
mask and caught the flu but hope he
is better. You speak of wearing gauze
masks. How would you like to wear one
that covers your whole face and hike
