Tues MARCH 19. Very nice and quite warm. Lew went up to his claim with a load of lumber. We went to windy hill lake a fishing didnt catch many fish but we tried mighty hard. Mr Neece Mr Dixon [Glasniech?] Lill and myself we had lots of fun for poor folks.

MARCH 20. Wed Some cloudy and rather raw wind. Lew worked at the wheat ground in the forenoon and in the afternoon he worked at getting read [ready] to go up to his claim. I worked at the slip business about all day and got quite a lot cut and buried.

Bought the Caseys place paid $650 for the two

MARCH 21. Thurs Cloudy and cool and began to snow about bed time. Lew and I went up to his claim. Got to Mr Caseys about noon and I made a trade with both of the Caseys for their claims the old man to relinquish by me paying him a hundred dollars and the younger one to deed his land to me when I pay him five hundred and fifty dollars. We worked at this house a little.

MARCH 22. Fri Found three or four inches of snow this morning up at rough and ready and it was still snowing by spells so we loaded up and came home. Got home a little before noon but there was no snow here. Will Dixon was plowing. He worked harrowing yesterday. Lew and I hauled a load of hay then he went and plowed and I got a few slips.

MARCH 23. Sat Quite nice and clear. I fooled and chored around and cut some slips about a thousand I guess. Lew went to town and done the marketing. He split wood in the afternoon. Will Dixon plowed. I went to Mr Beaches and made a bargain for some money.

MARCH 24. Sun Very nice again to day. We had some visitors Charleys and John Dragers folks were here and we had a nice time and lots of it.

MARCH 25. Mon Some windy and rained a good big little shower up at Horsetooth and a small one here. Will Dixon was here and hauled manure. Lew and I went up to the hills to make him a house. Geo Casey and I signed an agreement to bind the land trade and I paid him fifty dollars on it. It began to rain just before night so we hitched up and went up to Mr Browns.

MARCH 26. Tue Very nice and quite warm. We drove down to Lews place and pitched into the cabin busines [business] with a will and got so much done that we slept in it very snugly and had no bad dreams either.

Wed MARCH 27. Pretty fair day. We finished Lews house and finished his lumber then had a visit from Misses Wall and Batie. Looked over the hills some and then came home.

MARCH 28. Thurs A little windy but otherwise pretty nice. Lewis pulled up some gooseberries etc. Mother and I went to Mr Beaches then to town and I made a bargain with Miss Mitchell for the Whittiker place.
