Sat April 12 Began pretty nice this morning and grew disagreeable all day with a big cold wind to night. Lew has not got home yet. Dave has been hustleing [hustling] around pretty brisk at evrything irrigating hauling a turn of water etc. I cut and set slips all day.

Sun Apr 13 Clear this morning but changed quite materially during the day and to night it is snowing quite fast and very damp and if it keeps on long enough I guess that the ground will be all right for cropping.

Mon Apr 14 About 3 inches of snow this morning and the ground pretty well wet and it kept snowing and raining slowly all day. Lew and Dave took up the gill net and got 11 fish 5 suckers and 4 carp. Lew fixed his harness. I finished the irrigating and turned the water around and fixed the corn sheller.

Tues Apr 15 Sort of storming most of the day but the snow melted as fast as it came making the ground in good fix for things to grow. Lew and I hauled a load of hay from Windy hill then he shelled corn and I fixed the ditch to fill the cistern. Dave fixed up the gill net and reel for it and shot a couple of hawks.

Wed Apr 16 Quite a nice day after the storm and quite a freeze last night but I cant see as any damage was done by it. We got the ballance [balance] of the upland hay from Windy hill 3 loads. Dave went to town this forenoon and got the seine rope and some other things and Lew went to Walthalls this afternoon and delivered the gray mare.

Thurs April 17 A real nice day bright sunshine and balmy air. Two men came and took up the ash trees East of the orchard paid 15 dols [$15.00]. We fished in the cat fish lake this forenoon. Didnt catch much. Tried the carp lake this afternoon caught 77 fish and some of them were very fine weighing 4 lbs apiece I think.

Fri Apr 18 A fine growing day. Lew went to the Spring Canion [Canyon] Ranch this morning. Dave set the gill net in the catfish lake and caught a few fish. I put in the day at setting and cutting slips.

Sat April 19 Rather a nice day on an average. Dave caught a few fish with the gill net and went to town with the butter. I finished setting the slips on the timber claim got through just quitting time.

Sun Apr 20 Rained a good part of the day. Old Princess has a nice red heifer calf this morning. We staid [stayed] about home nicely to day. John Drager and his brother in law staid [stayed] here last night and a while this morning. They were trying to catch some suckers but had to substitute a few carp instead.

Mon Apr 21 Rained and hailed some this morning and quite a rain this afternoon. Dave and I went to town this morning. Got home a little after noon and this afternoon we churned and made some grafting wax. Dave fixed the cow stable some some other little chores etc. I set a letter to Will smoke this morning about the colts.
