Tues Apr 22 Clear a while then turned cold and clouded up and got quite cold. Lew came home from the Spring Canion [Canyon] to night. Could not do much up there. Dave and I fished awhile this morning caught 80 carp and Joel Clark came tonight and got 78 lbs of them. I cut slips and trimmed trees this afternoon.

Wed Apr 23 Rained considerable of the day and was pretty cold too. Lew and Dave went over to town with four horses and got the wagon that he left there last night with a few flaging [flagging] stones on it but the mud is awful to day then this afternoon we fixed the cistern pipe and Dave fixed the seine and I trimmed raspberries north of the house awhile.

Thurs Apr 24 Rained steady all day and has been pretty cold too and I think that it will snow some before morning. Lew shelled corn a spell and finished. Dave and I didnt do much only he helped do the chores and that was about all we both done.

Friday Apr 25 It rained and snowed most of the day and was rather cold and awful muddy. Mr Balcom told us to turn some water into the lake but there wont much run out of the gate. Dave and I tinkered around a little but couldnd [couldnt] do much to any advantage. Lew went to town to get some fruit trees. Paid $12 for them and 75 cts[$0.75] for 3 hund [hundred] of coal.

Sat April 26 Delightful most of the day but towards night it got cooler and clouded up and rained a little. Lew and I sowed a little alfalfa seed on the 10 acre piece fixed his cart some borrowed Mr Dixons plow. Lew and Dave cleaned up the corn and Mede and I set some grafts.

Sun Apr 27 A pretty nice day all day but pretty muddy most everywhere. We sat around and laid about and grunted some and read some and Lew went to Sabbath School some and I guess that was about all.

Mon Apr 28 Quite a pretty day and things are growing very nicely. We turned 31 head of stock into Mr Birdsals and Mrs Dimicks field this morning then fished for carp until noon. In the afternoon Lew plowed some furrows on the west side of the lake then broke some furrows around a few little pieces of prairy [prairie] over towards the west end of the Larimer place. I set slips on the west side of the windy hill lake.

Tues Apr 29 A very nice growing day and quite warm. Lew broke prairy [prairie] on the piece east of the lake. Dave went to town and got the mail and done some other scattering errands. Sade has a little boy cold [colt] but he has hard work getting his grub. I set slips around the lake this forenoon and grafted in the afternoon.

Wed Apr 30 Pretty fair but got cool towards night. Lew plowed. I and Mede grafted in the forenoon got done in the afternoon. Set 4 Wolf river apple trees and 7 Potawatamie plum trees two russian apricot trees 1 German prune. Dave helped me.
