Sat Sept 9 Had quite a little rain
in the night but didnt rain to day [today]
to speak of. Charley and Freds resignation
was accepted this morning with pleasure.
In fact I even paid them ten dollars
and forty five cents to help them to
help them on towards fortune and fame.
Lew and Kib got started quite early this
morning to bring down Gores folks.
I worked at the dyke pretty steady. $1 50/100 [$1.50]

Sun Sept 4 Quite a nice day.
Kept Sunday some and went to Mr
Hoags just afternoon. Mr MClellans
folks were there and so were Mr Thomas's.
We looked over the orchard and I dont
think that Mr Hoags folks have
any reason to be discouraged yet for
the blight is not doing the orchard
much injury yet and is loaded well
with fruit.
