Thurs Sept 1st O so nice and so warm So clear and so pretty and so still. The boys all three hauled all day. They got 6 loads of hay and 2 loads of oats in the stack. I finished cutting the piece that I begun yesterday and fixed the fence where it crossed the ditch into Wrights field and shocked the rest of the day. Kib raked up and bunched the piece that I have just cut and then he shocked a while.

Fri Sept 2 Pretty good day but it rained a little about 4 O clock. Lew and the boys hauled 2 loads of oats and 3 loads of hay. Kib shocked a while this forenoon and this afternoon he went to town to take the cream over and do some other errands I worked at the dyke for a business $1 50/100 [$1.50]

Sat Sept 9 Had quite a little rain in the night but didnt rain to day [today] to speak of. Charley and Freds resignation was accepted this morning with pleasure. In fact I even paid them ten dollars and forty five cents to help them to help them on towards fortune and fame. Lew and Kib got started quite early this morning to bring down Gores folks. I worked at the dyke pretty steady. $1 50/100 [$1.50]

Sun Sept 4 Quite a nice day. Kept Sunday some and went to Mr Hoags just afternoon. Mr MClellans folks were there and so were Mr Thomas's. We looked over the orchard and I dont think that Mr Hoags folks have any reason to be discouraged yet for the blight is not doing the orchard much injury yet and is loaded well with fruit.

Mon Sept 5 Nice enough. Lew and Kib hauled a load of hay and a load of oats this forenoon and this afternoon Lew went to town to take Mr Gore's folks over who started for home on the 2 O clock train. I worked at the wall up at the lake and at irrigating the wheat ground. Have that most done. $1.50/100 [$1.50]

Tues Sept 6 Bright sunshine and pretty warm. Lew and Kib unloaded the load of oats and hauled a load of hay in the forenoon and in the afternoon they hauled two loads of hay. I mowed all day and cut the piece along the road towards the timber claim.

Wed Sept 7 Nice the fore part of the day but quite windy this afternoon. I mowed all day and got done. Cut the 6 acre piece and some more. Kib raked what I cut yesterday and this afternoon he done some odd jobs. [turn over]

Sept 7th continued Lew chored around all day. Mr Neece's young folks are here to night.

Thurs Sept 8 Cloudy in the fore part of the day but got quite nice. We commenced filling the cistern last night and finished it this morning. Lew and Kib hauled a couple of loads of hay then Lew helped me at the dyke and Kib raked the ballance [balance] of the day. I worked at the dyke. $2.00 [comment on left side up from bottom:] Cistern filled.

Fri Sept 9 Nice all day. Lew and I worked at the dyke only awhile in the afternoon. We put in talking with Mr Pennocks agent. Kib raked. He got done up on the windy hill place.

Sat Sept 10 Nice but pretty cold. The boys hauled 4 loads of hay on the windy hill place. I worked at the dyke in the forenoon and shocked hay in the afternoon. 75 cts [$0.75]

Sun Sept 11 Rather cold and a light frost this morning but warm enough most of the day. Lew went a riding to day. Talks of visiting Loveland has not got home yet. The rest of us staid [stayed] home mostly but Kib went to Mr Hoags and has now gone to town after some flax seed meal to give to old Princess as she has lost her calf but has not cleaned yet.

Mon Sept 12 A nice day. Lew and Kib finished the hay on the Windy hill place this forenoon and this afternoon they brought in the cattle in a little while and Lew went up to Mr Dixons and Harry and Kib helped me a while on the dyke. I worked at the dyke for a business all day. $2
