Sat June 10 It loked [looked] some threatning but all blowed away without any rain. We went to Denver on the morning train and went to Mr Gores. Mrs Gore is well and Mr Gore says he is but I should think if I had his cough that I was not well. Mr Gore is very enthusiastic over his new found religion and would like to have evry [every] one think just as he does. When I went to the O E Miller institute I commenced taking a new kind of treatment in place of the money. I dont of course know how it will terminate but I have seen a good deal to encourage me to try the new treatment. Lew irrigated on the windy hill place. Kib irrigated and hoed about home in the forenoon and in the afternoon he set out the cabbages.

Sun June 11 Quite nice threatened some but only had some wind. I took another treatment and it makes me very sore so I kept pretty close to the house. The rest went to church considerable. Lew irrigated all day from the Larimer Co ditch. Kib went to town and brought out Aggie.

Mon June 12 About the same as yesterday. Mother Mrs Gore and I went and visited the greenhouse and rode around lots but in the afternoon I tried to find a neck yoke and visited the O E Miller institute. The Larimer Co ditch was broke so Lew irrigated wheat in NW corner. Kib fixed fence and hoed garden stuff.

Tues June 13 Threatening but no rain. A head again in the Larimer Co ditch so Lew irrigated up there and Kib in the wheat piece in the NW corner. I took another treatment and got ready to come home so we took the 5:15 PM train and came via Greeley home. Got home in good season so Lew met us at the depot and brought us out. We found things as good as we could expect with that miserably managed old Larimer Co ditch broke again.

Wed June 14 Another good day only it didnt rain much but it pretended that it was just a going to for quite a spell. The boys done several other small jobs in connection with irrigating on the wheat ground over in the N W corner of the place. I am too sore yet to do much work.

Thu rs June 15 Clear all day and hot. Lew spent the day at getting the girls to visit Mary and Aggie and Ida and Gracie Dotts with their tent and equipments up to Mr Pennocks as they are going to stay up there and pick strawberries awhile. Kib finished irrigating the piece of wheat over in the N W corner all but two or three little scraps. I worked at hoeing some and irrigated between the tree rows in the orchard and the cabbage patch.

Fri June 16 Rather dry hot day. Lew cultivated corn. Kib finished irrigating the piece over in the corner again and it took him all day. I tinkered at the garden and irrigated in the orchard and below and wanted to irrigate from the Larimer County ditch but Johny didnt turn me out more than 35 or 40 inches so I looked the ground over and let the water run and wished I had more of it.

Warm and dry. Sat June 17 My birth day 68 to day. Well time is just whooping it up. Kib went to town with the cream in the forenoon and in the afternoon hoed in the strawberry patch. Lew cultivated corn and hoed some and irrigated some below the orchard. I irrigated all day upon the windy hill place but it dont seem as though I got along much. There is 42 inches in the headgate and I had I think about 80 inches for 3 shores.

Sun June 18 Clear and hot and dry as ever. Lew went up to the ranch and came home by Johns and saw Mary and the other strawbery pickers but they didnt pick much yet but seem to want to hold the job. Kib went to town and I irrigated on the windy hill place and spread quite a lot of water over the soil and killed several prarie [prairie] dogs.

Mon June 19 Clear and hot about 95 in the shade. I went this morning to windy hill to irrigate found lots more water in the Long Pond ditch but when I got to the Larimer Co ditch found that with scarcely any water in it so I went to seek water up the Dry Creek ditch. Persuaded Mr Janson to let me have part of his or of mine that he was using so after cleaning out Bees dams and filling up the places that he had out the ditch banks. I got the water to running on to the piece of wheat over on the hill about noon and I had the water running on some other places the peas strawberries and the oats and corn north of the barn. Kib hoed strawberries and irrigated them and Lew mowed at the piece north of the house. Got it pretty near cut. He used the young mares.

Tues June 20 Clear hot and dry. No water in the Larimer Co Ditch yet to day. Two days and two nights without water and how much longer I dont know yet. Lew finished mowing the piece north of the house and this afternoon fixed fence. Kib raked some helped me fix fence some and went to town this afternoon took over the cream and got some things for the machine and rake. I fixed fence for the Englishmen this forenoon and this afternoon helped Lew and we fixed it on the south side of the windy hill place. I finished irrigating the piece north of the barn and done lots of wetting on the wheat over on the hill.

Wed June 21 The wind has blown pretty hard nearly all day and it has been pretty hot too. Kib went to town this forenoon and got the neck yoke to the mowing machine and iron to fasten it to the tongue. This afternoon he raked and shocked. Lew raked this forenoon and this afternoon he plowed the piece of corn towards the barn and tinkered at the machine some. I irrigated over on the hill and on the oats on the windy hill place mowed some fixed fence some ground sickle some.

Thurs June 22 Hot and dry with no visible prospect of rain. Lew mowed over at Mr C V Howards place. It looks as though he had cut a good big piece. Kib done various odd jobs and this afternoon he raked some over at Mr Howards. I irrigated. I finished the piece over on the hill and had a very fair head of water from the Larimer co ditch and I used it the best that I knew how on the oats up there.

Fri June 23 Very hot and very dry. Lew raked and shocked what hay the cut yesterday over on Mr Howards place. Kib went to Boulder to help Meda close her school and they have not got back yet. I irrigated up on the oats and timber claim with a small head probably 55 or 60 inches.
