111111 Mon Sept 18 A very nice day. Frank and Kib finished the dyke at the lake and afterwards Frank set shoes on Doms fore feet. I cut the pieces of alfalfa North of the house and then got things ready to run water into the cistern. Early in the morning Lew went to the Spring Canion [Canyon] ranch and wants to Charley Andrews.

Tues Sept 19 Clear and nice. We all tinkered at one thing and another. The boys hunted some and done some other things. Lew went up to Spring Canion [Canyon] and got Tilly and left her with Mrs Cunningham to milk and try her. Mother and I went over to Charleys. Found them in a tight place. Helped them out with Dom and saw the barley safely in the granary and staid [stayed] with them all night.

Wed Sept 20 Clear but quite windy. The hay was not dry enough to haul when I got home so the boys cut up some corn and in the afternoon we went a fishing. Had great luck. Made one haul by hitching a horse to each end of the seine and hauled it right across from the south to the north side. We took out what we wanted for ourselves and neighbors and threw the rest back into the lake.

I set strawberry plants this forenoon and this afternoon Mother and I went over to Mr Hoags and Mrs Hoag came home with us.

Fri Sept 22 Clear and pretty hot in the middle of the day. The boys Frank Lew Elmer and kib got off on their rabbit hunt about 9 this morning. I put in most of the time at the strawberries to day setting out and irrigating them.

Sat Sept 23 Clear and pretty hot for a spell but a little frost this morning. I shucked out some corn for the pigs and tinkered up the machine and rake so they are all right. The boys got home a little before sundown. They got 45 rabbits one duck and a Lynx.

Sun Sept 24 A pretty fair day. We kept sun [Sunday] mostly but Frank Elmer and I went to Reas's but Reas and I didnt hitch about a hay trade. He wanted five dollars [$5.00] a ton and I offered him 4.50 [$4.50] so we didnt deal.

Mon Sept 25 Clear and pretty nice to day. We set the tyre [tire] on the old wagon and some strawberry plants.

Tues Sept 26 Clear and hot for a little while in the middle of the day but cold at both ends. We hauled manure from north of the barn onto the piece south of the orchard.

Wed Sept 27 Clear again and tolerable fair. We hauled manure and cut up the rest of the pop corn and we irrigated the strawberries too.

Thurs Sept 28 Sort of Cloudy and threatening but didnt storm any. We scraped the manure up in to windrows and hauled four loads and one load of punkins [pumpkins].

Fri Sept 29 Foggy in the morning but cleared up after a while but was a little breezy. We hauled manure. Got out 8 loads and that finished it up pretty clean. I shucked out some corn for the pigs and changed the water from the lake ditch to Bristols in the morning.

Sat Sept 30 A small drizzling rain most all day but it didnt wet down much. Lew and Elmer went to the Populist convention to day and I guess that he must be elected for he has not got home yet. I did not work very steady but chored about some.

Sun Oct 1st Snowed and rained some this morning but was cloudy and cold all day. We all staid [stayed] at home and kept Sunday but that was about all that we did keep. Franks folks came over from Charleys to day [today].

Mon Oct 2 Heavy frost this morning but we had a pretty nice day. The boys killed and dressed a calf for meat this morning an Frank has gone to find work. Elmer took the cream over to town and Lew finished cutting the hay for this year. I irrigated about half of the piece below the orchard and dug some potatoes to boot.

Tues Oct 3 Pretty nice day but was rather cool towards night. Lew and Elmer branded the calves this forenoon and this afternoon Lew done Sundry chores. I finished irrigating the piece below the orchard and finished digging the potatoes near the ice house and trimmed raspberry bushes quite a bit too.

Wed Oct 4 Pretty fair day but it has got to be pretty squally now and looks quite threatning for a storm. We have all sort of chored around at different things. I irrigated the strawberreis for one things and the boys got ready to start for a couple of loads of wood in the morning if it looks favorable.

I finished trimming the raspberries this forenoon and worked a little this afternoon in the shop. Ett came here to day and is going to stay until Saturday.

Fri Oct 6 A real pretty day. I husked some corn this morning then worked at a couple of little culverts to pass some water under the road to water stock in the 10 acre piece. Lew and Elmer got home about sun down [sundown] with each of them a pretty good load of wood part of it was slabs. They dont talk of having a very nice time.

Sat Oct 7 Pretty good day. Lew chored and I raked up and hauled a load of hay from the 10 acre piece. Mother and I went to the creamery and from there to Mr Carys and I expect that I sold the hogs to him. He says that he will pay me $4.75 for them and will be out to see them the first of the week.

Sun Oct 8 Very nice again to day. Lew and Mary and Elmer went up to Spring Canion [Canyon] ranch to day to get Lews mare and colt so as to wean the colt. The rest kept Sunday pretty regularly all day. The youngsters have not got back yet.
