Mon Oct 9 As pretty as a picture. Lew and I put in the water works to accomodate the stock on the 10 acre piece North of the house and we dug a few potatoes and we fixed the stock yard fence etc.

Tues Oct 10 Very nice to day. Elmer went to town this morning to get some boxes and ice etc. Lew and I rigged up some nose bags and done some tinkering on the wagon and this afternoon we fished in the windy hill lake. Made two good hauls and I guess we got 700 lbs. We have got the load so near ready that I think that the boys will get a pretty early start.

Wed Oct 11 Cloudy this morning but it cleared up after a while but there was lots of real cold wind all day. Lew and Elmer set of for Cheyenne a little before 6 O clock this morning and I expect they are there now. I worked in the shop this forenoon fixing Franks wood saw and my back saw and this afternoon I shucked some corn.

Thurs Oct 12 Pretty hard frost last night but after it got warmed up it was a very nice day. I hoed and irrigated the strawberries to day.

Fri Oct 13 Clear and nice only rather cold at the ends. The boys have not got back from Cheyenne yet and I worked at some of the ditches up on the windy hill place. Mary went to town with the cream and brought Aggie out with her when she came home. The boys got home about half past and they left Cheyenne at a qr [quarter] to eleven and stopped at the old Terry ranch 2 hours. They got about 25 dollars [$25.00] for the load.

Sat Oct 14 Pretty day. We took the hogs over to Mr Carys and done some errands in town and that is about all that we did do.

Sun Oct 15 Nice. We had lots of company Mr and Mrs Spencer Mr and Mrs Buffom and Mr and Mrs Michand and I went to A V Howards and Kinglands and Jansons. I was trying to find some pigs to buy.

Mon Oct 16 Some cloudy but mostly clear towards night. Will Wright died on Saturday and was buried to day. There was quite a large procession some 22 carriages.

Tues Oct 17 Very nice. Lew and Elmer put some hay into the barn loft. I took the cream over and then went and traded the cow that they have for 4 pigs and 12 dollars [$12.00]. She paid me five [$5.00] down and is to pay 7 [$7.00] more about Thanksgiving and I wrote to Mr Larimer enquiring if I can buy his part of the hay at 4 dollars pr [per] ton and pay him when I sell the beef.

Thurs Oct 19 Nice as ever. The boys finished digging the potatoes this forenoon and this afternoon they went with Ted down to Corys and got two calves one for Ted and one for Lew. Teds was 3 dols [dollars] and Lews was two. I irrigated the strawberries this forenoon and this afternoon I was so lame that I didnt do much of anything.

Fri Oct 20 Good. Lew plowed on the piece below the orchard but didnt get quite done. I covered the potatoe holes this forenoon and started this afternoon to clean out and fix the grainery but some rangers came here and after about 2 hours good hard preaching we bought one for 78 dolls [$78.00]. Paid 15 [$15.00] down and they credited us 1 30/100 [$1.30] for discount and the rest is due next Sept first without int [interest].

Sat Oct 21 Clear and nice. Lew helped Hary [Harry] Dixon thresh awhile this morning then chored around some. Kib left this morning and this afternoon David and Rhoda Laing came and we were tickled. Sure we have visited strong all of the time since.

Sun Oct 22 Splendid if we didnt need rain so bad. We visited with David and Rhoda hand over hand we are getting acquainted some now and getting very much interested too. Franks folks went over to Reas's this morning and have not got back yet.

Mon Oct 23 Rather windy to day. Lew plowed a little and harrowed it and chored around some. David and I strolled around and looked things over some. Will Cay was here this afternoon and the Western Rangers are staying with us to night.

Tues Oct 24 Nice as ever. Will Kingland brought over their dehorning aparatus [apparatus] and we dehorned 17 head of cows and Old Joe got done about noon. The horns that could be cut off they could lop off pretty fast but old Joes horns had to be sawed off. I worked part of the time at fixing the Stansions [Stanchions] so the [they] would be a little narrower. David and Elmer went for rabbits and got 3.

Wed Oct 25 A pretty darned rough day but the boys dehorned the cattle up at the ranch 24 head of them. David and I went up with Dom and the little buggy and looked over the things up there but I dont think that he wanted to buy it. We got home most froze and I am chilly yet.

Fri Oct 27 Rather a nice day but Somewhat breezy some of the time. We cleaned out the cistern this morning and tried to run some water into it. Got it about half full and the water played out so we will have to wait and this afternoon Lew and Mary went to town and David and Rhoda and Mother and me went up to Charleys. Found Charley and Frank digging potatoes and the tubers were pretty good too.

Sat Oct 28 Very fine. Lew and David and Elmer went to town and got some blacksmithing done and visited for a business. After they got home Reas's folks were here a visiting to day too. I finished filling the cistern and irrigated the rest of the day down in the orchard.

Sun Oct 29 Nice again to day. The Larimer Co. ditch furnished us with a little water to day. For the first since I can remember we got a little to run into the lake.
