Sun Dec 16 Clear and fine. We all kept sun [Sunday] as usual. Mr Buffom and Gene was [were] here to day [today] and got 5.50/100 [$5.50] of wheat and 10 hund [hundred] and thirteen lbs of oats on the Larimer acct [account] which leaves eleven hund [hundred] twenty seven lbs yet due him.

Mon Dec 17 Clear still and nice. I worked at the hen dairy business most of the forenoon and felt sort of bad all over most so I came in and sat and laid around awhile and helped Mother about her washing a little and then Lew and Mary came home with a big load of coal and we put in the rest of the afternoon at unloading the coal and the coal house is just about full at the present writing. Johny went to school.

Tues Dec 18 Fine sure. Lew went up to the ranch and has not got back yet. I made a rack to feed the calves in and then I coal oiled the east one of the lower hen houses.

Wed Dec 19 Nice and still and sunshiny to day [today] again. Mother and I and Lew and Mary went over to town to day [today] and made Mr Silas Buffoms folks a visit. We had a good nice time and enjoyed it very much. Johny went to school.

Thurs Dec 20 Mostly clear but a big west wind nearly all day and it blows some yet. Lew took some wheat to the mill and got some flour and then went down to Franks. I fixed up the calf rack and tinkered around some at other things. Johny went to school.

Fri Dec 21 Clear still and very comfortable in the middle of the day but quite sharp at the ends. Lew went over to Charleys to plow his onion ground but found too much frost in the ground to do much plowing but he done the best he could and brought home a pretty good load of green cotton wood at night. I whitewashed the hen house down by the barn and done some more work to it and John went to school.

Sat Dec 22 Another delightful day clear still and warm. Lew went to town and brought out Meda and helped unload the load of hay. John and I took out and put into the cellar two holes of potatoes one for urselves [ourselves] and the other for pigs and cows. Then we hauled a load of hay for the barn loft.

Sun Dec 23 Fine as ever. Lew and Mary went up to John Dragers havent got back yet. Meda and John went up to Charleys and Mother and I kept Sunday.

Mon Dec 24 It looked sort of squally until after 3 O clock then it snowed a little dab and I guess that it is not done yet. Johny went home to day [today] to stay until towards the latter part of the week. Lew and I delivered 15 sacks of alfalfa seed to Mr Rugh and got 5 cts [$0.05] a pound for it and paid Johny off by paying him $10.65 cts and ten dollars [$10.00] for thre [three] calves that we bought in the fall. I paid Pete Anderson $6.50 and Mr Herner 15 dollars [$15.00] and have a little left.

25 4 inches of snow this morning 26 6° deg below zero at 10 PM to night [tonight]

Tues Dec Christmas Found a scant 4 inches of snow on the ground this morning and a little colder but cleared off and was quite pleasant until about night when it got to be pretty blamed cold 6° below zero at 10 O clock PM. We had a goodly number of kinsman and kinswomen here to help us celebrate the day. Bert and Wills Nellie Ednie and Alice were here. Hats baby is too young to be taken out yet so Charlie and her and the baby didnt come. Reas's folks were all here so were Franks and Lew and Mary. We had a Jolly time a good dinner and at night had speaking peices [pieces] recitations songs and dialogues and charades etc. making it interesting and Grace took a glance into the future and gave us a short sight at it and if it turns out as she saw times will improve early in the next century for her vision saw me in the presidential chair and the ballance [balance] of us filling high places in the national government.

Wed Dec 26 6° below zero this morning and pretty cool all day but clear and still. Our comp any [company] all went home to day [today] but Edna and Alice. Lew went to see after his pasturing down near Franks. I worked some in the shop to day [today] but it was pretty cold you bet.

Thurs Dec 27 Pretty cold all day. The thermometer made it 6° below zero this morning and it has been clear and cold all day. Lew went to look at a place or two this day but is not very much struck on Either. I worked around until afternoon but I just fixed at my old overshoes some after that.

Fri Dec 28 Clear and still but pretty cold 12° below zero this morning. Lew done most of the chores to day [today] and cut up wood a spell. I fixed up my old overshoes and that was about all I did do. Johny got home this evening.

Sat Dec 29 Clear and still and about 12° or 14° warmer to day [today]. Lew still looking for a place to rent for the next year went up to see the Parks place this morning but there seems to be one or two parties that may be ahead of him there. Johny and I cleaned out the calf sheds and some other work at the pens. Dan McBride came home with Lew and I guess is going to help him some.

Sun Dec 30 Pleasant but cold. The day passed as sundays generally does with all of the family but me. I had a dizzy or faint spell at breakfast and could not walk much of any all day. Lew had went over to Charleys last night and took Edna and Allie home. He came back to night [tonight].

Mon Dec 31 Clear still and a trifle warmer. Lew and Dan started this morning to move his young cattle from Spring Canion [Canyon] to near where Frank lives. Johny went to school. I am still quite out of sorts.
